Event Submission Terms
Effective September 1, 2026
These Event Submission Terms govern event, venue, organization, image, video, graphic, and other content submitted to Butte365 or other Explore Butte County services. In these Terms, “EBC,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Explore Butte County, a California nonprofit corporation. “You” means the person making the submission.
By completing a governed submission, you agree to the version of these Terms presented with that submission.
1. Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old to submit content. You represent that you are submitting on your own behalf or that you have authority to act for the event organizer, venue, organization, or other identified content owner.
2. Accuracy and lawful content
You represent that, to the best of your knowledge, the submitted information is accurate, current, and not misleading. You will not submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, deceptive, discriminatory, harassing, obscene, invasive of another person's privacy or publicity rights, or infringing of any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary right.
3. Ownership and content license
You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting it, you grant EBC, its successors, contractors, service providers, and approved distribution platforms a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid license to host, store, reproduce, format, crop, resize, adapt, edit, publish, publicly display, distribute, and promote the submitted content in connection with EBC's websites, email publications, social-media accounts, visitor information, event promotion, and related services.
This license permits reasonable technical and editorial changes, including changes for grammar, style, length, accessibility, formatting, and accuracy, but does not authorize EBC to materially misrepresent the event or organizer.
The license continues for materials already published, distributed, archived, backed up, or incorporated into promotional materials. EBC may agree to stop future use but is not required to recall materials already distributed or delete records retained for security, backup, legal, or evidence purposes.
4. Media and releases
For every image, video, graphic, or other media file you submit, you represent that you own the media or have sufficient permission from the owner to submit it and grant the license above. You also represent that you have obtained any releases or permissions reasonably necessary for EBC's permitted use of identifiable people, private property, trademarks, artwork, or other protected material shown in the media. This includes permission from a parent or legal guardian for any identifiable minor when such permission is reasonably required.
Do not submit media subject to attribution requirements, restricted-use licenses, or other conditions that conflict with these Terms unless EBC has approved those conditions in writing.
5. Editorial discretion
Submission does not guarantee publication, promotion, notice of a decision, or continued availability. EBC may verify, edit, reformat, decline, postpone, unpublish, or remove any submission at any time. EBC may contact you for clarification but is not obligated to do so.
6. Public and private information
Information entered into public event, venue, organization, ticket, website, or contact fields may be published. Submitter account information, private contact information, agreement records, and internal identifiers are used for submission administration and are not intended for public display unless you also place that information in a designated public field.
EBC's collection, use, disclosure, and retention of personal information are described in the Privacy Policy.
7. No payment or endorsement
You will not receive compensation for EBC's permitted use of the submitted content unless EBC separately agrees in writing. Publication does not mean that EBC endorses the submitter, organizer, event, venue, organization, products, services, or statements contained in the submission.
8. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless EBC, its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from third-party claims, damages, judgments, liabilities, and reasonable legal expenses arising from the submitted content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
9. Update submissions
Each update submission is a new submission of the changed content. By submitting an update, you reaffirm the representations above and accept the version of these Terms presented with that update. An update does not cancel permissions already granted for prior versions or materials already published or distributed.
10. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms must be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction over Butte County, California, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
11. Standard terms
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without EBC's written consent. EBC may assign these Terms to a successor that operates the relevant services.
These Terms and any additional written conditions expressly accepted by EBC are the entire agreement about the submitted content. Headings are for convenience only.
EBC may revise these Terms for future submissions. A revised version will state its effective date and will not rewrite the version recorded for an earlier completed submission.
