Dia De Muertos in Historic Downtown Oroville

Looking for a fun, family-friendly event this Halloween? Join us for a vibrant Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) Celebration in historic downtown Oroville on Saturday, October 31st, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Admission is 100% FREE, making this the perfect community event for all ages to honor loved ones, enjoy traditional Mexican culture, and celebrate together!

Event Highlights & Activities

Opening Ceremony & Blessing: The event kicks off at 11:00 AM with a traditional blessing to commemorate the day.
Traditional Ofrendas (Altars): Explore beautifully decorated altars with pictures and offerings honoring passed loved ones. Educational guides will be available to explain the rich symbolism and meaning behind each altar.
Live Entertainment & Music: Experience live music throughout the day, including authentic Mariachi performances and mesmerizing Ballet
Folklórico dancers. Want to join in? Enjoy free dance lessons during the event!
Free Kids’ Corner & Games: Keep the little ones entertained with free games, face painting, a coloring table, and traditional piñatas.
Gather the family for a free screening of Disney-Pixar’s “Coco” at the historic Oroville State Theatre.

Admission: Free – sponsored by the Oroville State Theater (Limited seating available on a first-come, first-served basis).
Ticket Pickup: You must pick up your movie tickets in advance at By Grace Atelier (1365 Myers St, Oroville, CA).

Costume Contest – Show off your best Día de los Muertos or Halloween attire!

Our Day of the Dead Costume Contest is free to enter, with categories for:

Pets

Adults

Authentic Mexican Food, Drinks & Local Vendors – Come hungry! Explore a wide variety of food trucks, craft vendors, and local artisan booths.

Authentic Eats: Delicious tacos, pozole, nachos, churros, traditional Mexican sweet bread (pan de muerto), and hot cocoa.
Refreshing Drinks: Ice-cold aguas frescas, a local beer garden, and handcrafted specialty cocktails.
